The Fat Pipe Is Going On a Diet

Ethan Banks

Hey, everyone. Ethan here with a behind-the-scenes administrative request.

Several thousand of you subscribe to the Packet Pushers’ Fat Pipe. In the Fat Pipe, we’ve been stuffing every single podcast episode we produce.

The problem is that we produce up to seven episodes per week, too much for the average podcast client to absorb them all. We can tell from the download stats. We’re publishing shows that never make it to certain clients at all.

In other words, the Fat Pipe has gotten too fat.

And so it is — doctor’s orders — that the Fat Pipe is going on a diet. Over the next couple of months, we’re going to pull out several of the shows we’ve been stuffing in there. If you want to keep listening to these shows, please subscribe to them directly.

So what’s leaving the Fat Pipe and when?

Here’s when you can expect to see the last episodes of the following shows in the Fat Pipe:

To be clear, these shows are not going away. They just won’t be available in the Fat Pipe feed beyond the cut-off dates shown above.

These are all great shows that thousands of you are listening to, so to keep up with them please search for “Packet Pushers” or the name of the show in your podcast client and subscribe directly.

Many of you ask how you can help support what we do, and subscribing is a big one. Download numbers are one of the ways we demonstrate to the sponsors that help us feed our families that all of you out there are listening. So if you like the shows, please take a minute to subscribe to their individual feeds.

From all of us here at Packet Pushers, thank you. We really appreciate it.

(Oh and hey, if you feel so inclined, please leave your favorite show a review on Apple or Spotify, or send the hosts feedback. We welcome your thoughts on what you like — or don’t — about our work.)

About Ethan Banks: Hey, I'm Ethan, co-founder of Packet Pushers. I spent 20+ years as a sysadmin, network engineer, security dude, and certification hoarder. I've cut myself on cage nuts. I've gotten the call at 2am to fix the busted blinky thing. I've sat on a milk crate configuring the new shiny, a perf tile blowing frost up my backside. These days, I research new enterprise tech & talk to the people who are making or using it for your education & amusement. Hear me on the Heavy Networking podcast.
